It’s not Spring with out Snowdrops! Snowdrops are one of the first flowers to bloom in the frozen months of January and February.
Small fragrant white flowers with green inner segments are produced on small stems up to 15cm tall. They are best planted in groups for maximum impact and grow best in humus rich, moist but well drained soil that does not dry out in summer. Partial shade is preferred.
Once snowdrops are established there's no maintenance required. Leave them well alone. Allow foliage to die back naturally to ensure the nutrients from the leaves are returned to the bulbs. Divide established clumps every few years.
